WHY WE EXIST    |    ELIGIBILITY   |    HOW IT WORKS

WHY WE EXIST

To remove financial barriers to FUN.

We exist to remove financial barriers to fun — the kind that prevent New Zealanders living with disabilities from accessing the extraordinary extras in life: the adventures, celebrations, and experiences that bring joy and connection.

For many of our recipients, who often live in full-time care, government funding gratefully covers the essentials of day-to-day living — but it rarely stretches to what we like to call the extra-careicular: those moments that expand horizons, create connections, and deliver unforgettable, extraordinary experiences.

Through The Liz Soper Foundation of Care, we make those moments possible — turning dreams into memories that last a lifetime.

How It Works

In Partnership

The Liz Soper Foundation of Care was established in 2018 by sisters Clara and Hannah in honour of their mum, Liz, when they took over the reins of Creative Abilities. Liz always made fun happen — she never saw barriers, only opportunities to live life to its fullest.

To honour their mum and the vision on which Creative Abilities was built, Creative Abilities funds 100% of the Foundation’s administrative costs, ensuring that every dollar donated goes directly towards making experiences happen for grant recipients.

Beyond this, Creative Abilities also seed funds the Foundation’s annual fundraising event — The Colour Dash — helping to bring the event to life and raise the core funds that sustain the Foundation’s work.

New Zealanders living with disabilities from across the country are eligible to apply for grants — you don’t need to be part of the Creative Abilities community to receive our support in getting out there and living life to the fullest.

Eligibility

Recipients of a Liz Soper Foundation of Care Award must be:

  • New Zealand citizens or permanent residents residing in New Zealand.

  • Persons living with disabilities who require care and/or support to participate in extracurricular activities or recreational experiences.

  • Aged 18 years or older at the time the application is submitted.

The recipient of an award may or may not be the applicant (for example, a family member or support person may apply on their behalf).
