In 1979 my daughter had an accident and sustained a head injury which resulted in brain damage. She lived for a number of years in various institutions and houses, none of which were satisfactory or suitable. There were, however, no choices in the 1970’s or 1980’s. Then I heard that Liz Soper (who I had met some time previously, and liked a lot) was operating/running a business on the North Shore for housing disabled young people. I called Liz and she showed me some of the houses and told me how she operated. We moved from West Auckland to Creative Abilities and have been exceptionally happy ever since. Liz had a “hands-on” no-nonsense approach. She knew all her clients by name and knew their family history. She had her clients needs and living options and care, as her priority. She understood their worries and was driven to make their lives better for them. Her energy and enthusiasm was unbelievable. She certainly has done an incredible job. Liz is an incredible woman who has done an amazing job of making life a whole lot better for so many disadvantaged young people.
